Newer restrictions 'not too relevant' in white-ball cricket, says Mitchell Starc
Despite newer restrictions imposed on Australia players on the use of sweat, in addition to the existing ICC rule of saliva-ban, for the upcoming white-ball series in England, Mitchell Starc remains unfazed. ICC had earlier this year temporarily put a ban on using saliva, considering the high risk it carried of transmitting the novel Coronavirus. In further restrictions applied on ball maintenance, aimed at minimising the risk of spread of the highly contagious disease, Australia players have been told to not use sweat from their head, face or neck either. The tightening of restrictions, though not an official mandate from the ICC, comes on the medical advice from Cricket Australia for the three T20Is and as many ODIs they are due to play in the UK, starting September 4. However, CA's cautious ball-maintenance approach won't affect them so much for now, feels Starc. "It's probably not something that's too relevant in white-ball cricket," the pacer told cricket.com.au on Thursday, ahead of training. "Once that new ball starts to go, you're trying to keep it dry anyway. It's more of a question for red-ball cricket."Retirment of famous cricketers
